Summoners Fest 2025: The Blueprint for the Next Era of MCOC!
Wow, what a weekend! If you missed Summoners Fest 2025, trust me, you missed history being made. Kabam went all out in Vancouver, treating us to a world-class competitive finale for the Battle Realm Brawl and dropping so many major announcements that it felt like Christmas came early.
Here’s a simple breakdown of everything you need to know about MCOC’s exciting roadmap.
1. New Ways to Fight: Goodbye AQ, Hello Coliseum!
The biggest news regarding game modes is the arrival of Coliseum, and yes, it’s going to shake things up, starting with Alliance Quest (AQ).
- Alliance Coliseum: This mode is launching in December and will temporarily replace Alliance Quest/Raids during its run, giving alliances a refreshing break from the usual routine. The core mechanic is Multiple Health Bars, rewarding champions who can ramp up damage and sustain their combo. Teams will work together to set high scores across all 30 members.
- Solo Coliseum: Coming in January, this single-player version will let you tackle encounters with endlessly scaling defenders. Unlike the Alliance version, your score and champion progress are cumulative, so if you die, you continue your progress with another Champion, no full resets!
We also got a massive tease for Fortress Assault (coming in 2026). A new competitive PvE experience that revolves around utilizing your entire roster.
2. The Champion Roster is Expanding and Evolving
The Champion team revealed an unbelievable lineup of upcoming releases and reworks:
- January 2026: We are getting two Science/Tech heavy hitters. The highly anticipated MCoC Champ J. Jonah Jameson (Tech, Spider-Slayer Mech Suit) is joining the Contest, along with a full model and kit rework for Doctor Strange!
- February 2026: Say hello to MCoC Champ Blue Marvel (Science)! This has been a long-requested champion, and he is finally hitting the Battle Realm.
- March 2026: The adorable and powerful mutant spellcaster, MCoC Champ Pixie (Mutant), is set to arrive with a super unique kit.
- Stellar Forge Champions: The next big chase is on! Like the Deathless series, this yearly pursuit starts with Star-Lord (Skill) and culminates in a powerful 7-Star Cosmic Dr. Doom.
3. Making Your Roster Matter (Even More!)
Kabam introduced two permanent features designed to honor the time you’ve already spent grinding:
- Seven-Star Ascension: Starting in Spring 2026, this feature will allow you to rank up your 7-Star Champions even further. Crucially, your champions keep their Signature Level, and you'll unlock a new passive damage resource called Might that leads to an automatic ISO Burst state.
- Collectives: This unique new system uses all the Champions you own across all rarities (even old 3-Stars!) to contribute points to collective groups (like "Science Class"). By ranking up these Collectives, you unlock permanent, account-wide bonuses, proving that truly every champion matters.
4. The Grand Finale: Battle Realm Brawl 2025
The weekend culminated in an intense Best-of-Seven final match between two fantastic players: Andrew the Ruff and Liam.
Liam, known for his consistency, showed incredible resilience after nearly being swept by Andrew in the semifinals. The final match was a masterclass in strategic drafting and execution, going the full distance to an epic Game 7. In the end, Liam emerged as the champion, proving his consistency and adaptability against a very difficult meta defined by the tricky Mixmaster and I Reveal My Trap Card nodes.
Liam (The Champion)
Congratulations: "A huge congratulations to Liam🥳🍾🥂 , the Battle Realm Brawl 2025 Champion! Your victory was an absolute masterclass in composure and sheer will. Holding that belt truly shows the world your dedication and skill."
Tournament Experience & Strategy:
- Experience: Liam described himself as the "model of consistency," and he proved it! He had a tough start, even losing his first match on stream, but he immediately locked in. He won the semi-final and then went head-to-head with Andrew, fighting all the way to a grueling Game 7.
- Winning Strategy: Liam’s key strategy was meticulous preparation and consistency. He focused heavily on strategic drafting and ensuring his champions could handle the complex meta. He knew that if he could stay healthy and force long, close matches, his consistency would beat his opponent's speed. He was even quoted saying he had to play a little "risky" in Game 7, trusting his instincts (and aggressive timing) to secure the final win!
Andrew the Ruff (The Finalist)
Congratulations: "To Andrew the Ruff 🥳🍾🥂, your performance as a finalist was nothing short of phenomenal! You are a world-class competitor, and pushing the series to a full Game 7 against the best is a massive accomplishment."
Tournament Experience & Strategy:
- Experience: Andrew entered as the number one seed, setting the pace for the entire tournament. He showed incredible competitive drive, especially in the finals when he fell behind 3-1. He battled back with flawless execution and sheer determination, tying the series 3-3 to force the final game.
- Strategy: Andrew is known for his aggressive style and ability to "nuke" opponents quickly. His strategy revolved around drafting top-tier, fast champions (like Red Guardian, which he quickly added to his deck) and executing fights with near-perfect speed and precision. He demonstrated a high level of adaptability on the fly, changing his draft strategies between matches based on what his opponents were showing.
